After six skilled performances, Ash Barty completed her run by showcasing her full talent and character in the final against the United States’ Danielle Collins (6-3 7-6(2) in 1 hour 27 mins). The incontestable World No.1 did not drop a set on her way to the title, her third Grand Slam (after Roland-Garros 2019 and Wimbledon 2021), making her home country extremely proud. The local fans had been waiting for another Australian woman to win in Melbourne since Christine O’Neil, who lifted the trophy back in 1978.
