In just over a month’s time, the stars of the WTA and ATP Tours will take over the courts of the Stade Roland‑Garros to compete in the second Grand Slam of the 2026 season. A must‑see event whose entries for the women’s and men’s singles draws are now known.

Women’s singles

Will Coco Gauff be able to retain the Coupe Suzanne‑Lenglen? The question remains wide open given the results recorded by the elite of the women’s game in recent tournaments. Last year’s finalist and current World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka has just completed a majestic Sunshine Double and will do everything in her power to add her name to the list of champions at a Grand Slam she holds in her heart.

Her closest challenger and long‑time rival, Elena Rybakina, will be targeting a rare Australian Open – Roland‑Garros double. Among the leading contenders, we must of course also include four‑time champion Iga Swiatek, who was halted in the semi‑finals last year and will be eager to reclaim her crown.

It should also be noted that four players will enter the Parisian Major using a protected ranking: Sara Sorribes Tormo (No.85), Jil Teichmann (No.89), Danka Kovinic (No.95) and Anhelina Kalinina (No.96). By contrast, French player Varvara Gracheva, currently ranked No.59 in the world, has been forced to withdraw due to injury.

Men’s singles

Everyone still remembers the unforgettable final of the 2025 edition, won by Carlos Alcaraz against his great rival Jannik Sinner. Unfortunately, the two-time defending champion recently announced that he would be withdrawing from the 2026 edition due to a wrist injury that had already forced him to pull out of the tournaments in Barcelona and Madrid.

However, the world No.1 will face stiff competition for the title, starting with Alexander Zverev, finalist in 2024 and current world No.3. Defeated at the final hurdle of the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic will also have his say, as he so often does on the Grand Slam stage. Meanwhile, the established contenders and a fearless young generation will do everything they can to disrupt the order imposed by the Big 2 in recent Grand Slam tournaments.

In the men’s draw, two players will benefit from a special ranking: Zhizhen Zhang (No.60) and Thanasi Kokkinakis (No.84). Unfortunately, Frenchman Arthur Cazaux (No.70) will not be able to take part in the 2026 edition due to an elbow injury.

Women’s and Men’s Doubles

World No. 1 and No. 2 in the discipline respectively, will Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend continue their remarkable run at Roland-Garros? After completing a superb Sunshine Double in Indian Wells and Miami, the duo made a seamless transition to clay by capturing the WTA 1000 title in Madrid. Enough to fuel lofty ambitions at the Porte d’Auteuil, even if the competition – led in particular by reigning champions Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini – promises to be fierce. The event is also an opportunity to witness the emergence of exciting new partnerships, such as Alex Eala and Victoria Mboko, who embody the future of world tennis.

Please note the wildcards awarded for the women’s doubles event:

BUREL Clara + PAQUET Chloé, CASCINO Estelle + MONNET Carole, EFREMOVA Ksenia + INISAN Eleejah, FERRO Fiona + PARRY Diane, JACQUEMOT Elsa + RAKOTOMANGA RAJAONAH Tiantsoa Sarah, JEANJEAN Leolia + PONCHET Jessika, LEMAITRE Tiphanie + RAME Alice

The men’s doubles competition also looks set to deliver plenty of excitement. Winners of the 2025 Rolex Paris Masters, Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten will be eager to extend their success in the French capital by adding Roland-Garros to their list of achievements. But the task will be anything but straightforward for the Madrid champions, who will have to contend with proven clay-court specialists such as defending champions Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos, as well as the Italian duo Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. Other partnerships on a strong upward trajectory, including Guido Andreozzi and Manuel Guinard, will also be keen to shake up the established hierarchy.

Please note the wildcards awarded for the men’s doubles event: CHIDEKH Clement + ROYER Valentin, DROGUET Titouan + GASTON Hugo, GEA Arthur + JACQUET Kyrian, JACQ Grégoire + BONZI Benjamin, KOUAME Moise + MPETSHI PERRICARD Giovanni, MARTIN Fabrice + MANNARINO Adrian, REYMOND Arthur + SANCHEZ Luca

Qualifying rounds

On Monday 18 May at 10am, players chasing a coveted place in the main draw of the 2026 edition will bring the Opening Week to life! A must-attend event for the sport’s most dedicated fans, the Parisian Grand Slam qualifying rounds offer the annual opportunity to discover the circuit’s future stars and to support those who may go on to spring memorable surprises as the tournament unfolds. One thing is certain: French supporters will once again be out in force to cheer on their representatives, who are set to be particularly numerous in qualifying.

In the women’s draw, the level promises to be especially high, with the presence of several former finalists (Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Sloane Stephens) and semi-finalists (Martina Trevisan, Tamara Zidansek, Karolina Pliskova) at the Porte d’Auteuil, all determined to thwart the ambitions of the WTA Tour’s rising generation.

The battle will be just as fierce on the men’s side, offering the perfect blend of experience and boundless ambition. Familiar faces on the circuit (admired for many years in the case of Grigor Dimitrov) such as Hugo Gaston, Otto Virtanen or Pedro Martinez will have to be wary of a wave of hungry young talents, including Coleman Wong and Nikola Budkov Kjær, to name but a few.

Wheelchair tennis men’s, women’s and quad events

This year, wheelchair tennis men’s, women’s and quad events will take place from Tuesday 2 to Saturday 6 June, with the draw scheduled on Monday 1 June. That is when the potential path of young prodigy Tokito Oda – the three-time reigning men’s singles champion – will become clearer. The winner of the 2026 Australian Open will start as the man to beat, but he will face fierce competition, beginning with his closest challenger in the world rankings, the legendary Alfie Hewett. Crowned when wheelchair tennis made its debut at the Rolex Paris Masters last November, the Brit has not lifted the Roland-Garros trophy since the 2021 edition. A particularly strong field, also featuring Guga Fernandez, Martin de la Puente and French veteran Stéphane Houdet.

In the women’s event, reigning champion and Paralympic gold medallist Yui Kamiji will also be aiming to defend her title. More than ever world No. 1 after her recent triumph in Melbourne, she will also be putting her doubles crown on the line. Finalist in 2025 and newly ranked world No. 3 – having recently overtaken her compatriot Diede de Groot –, Aniek van Koot will be looking to etch her name into the honours list of the Parisian Grand Slam for the first time, the only major still missing from her collection.

A two-time defending champion in quad men’s singles, will Guy Sasson manage to complete a hat-trick at Roland-Garros? To do so, he will likely once again have to raise his game against the Dutch duo of world No. 1 Niels Vink and world No. 2 Sam Schroder, a true legend of the discipline. Also of note is the first appearance in this draw of Australian prodigy Jin Woodman (16), named ITF Junior of the Year in 2025 and already ranked world No. 4.
