Tsitsipas rediscovers his groove
It’s been a tough-to-take 12 months or so for Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The former world No.3 and Roland-Garros 2021 finalist has slipped down the rankings. However, the Greek is back in title talk with a trophy lift in Gstaad, Switzerland, on Sunday.
Tsitsipas posted his fourth three-set victory of the week in a 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-3 battle with Raphaël Collignon to capture the ATP 250 clay court title, 16 months on from his most recent trophy lift at Dubai 2025.
“It’s a crazy feeling right now,” said Tsitsipas. “I survived a marathon and it was a long week. I played some crazy matches in the past couple of days… Every single match felt like it was never finished and somehow I managed to convert every single time and get the victory.
“Today I couldn’t be more blessed, couldn’t be more happy. It’s been an incredible effort from my side to go out there and do that over and over again. The result was obviously the best thing I would have imagined at the beginning of the week.”
Competing as the world No.85, victories over seeded duo No.5 Ignacio Buse and No.4 Arthur Rinderknech en route final lifts the 27-year-old up 34 spots to world No.51.
