Andrey Rublev : Player card

Born in 1997, Andrey Rublev discovered tennis at a very young age thanks to his mother, Marina Marenko, a tennis coach who played a central role in his development. His father, a former professional boxer, also helped shape the competitive mindset that would become one of his defining traits. From an early age, Rublev stood out for his explosive power and fiery, passionate temperament, qualities that would go on to form the backbone of his identity on the professional circuit.

During his teenage years, he refined his game in Spain, a country renowned for its tennis education. Training notably in Barcelona allowed him to strengthen his baseline game, improve his consistency and develop the physical foundations essential to reaching the top level. Successful as a junior, Rublev won the Roland‑Garros boys’ singles title in 2014 and climbed to world No.1 in the category, confirming his status as one of the sport’s brightest prospects.

His first major breakthrough on the ATP Tour came in 2017, when he reached the quarter-finals of the US Open at just 19 years old. Then, between 2020 and 2021, "Rublo" stepped into a new dimension: five titles during the 2020 season, followed by an excellent 2021 campaign highlighted by a run to the Monte‑Carlo Masters final, a title in Rotterdam and his first entry into the world’s Top 5. He continued to rise in the seasons that followed, capturing his maiden Masters 1000 crown in Monte‑Carlo 2023 before adding a second in Madrid 2024. In Grand Slams, his consistency is remarkable: he has reached the quarter-finals multiple times at all four majors (the Australian Open, Roland‑Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open).

One of the most aggressive players on tour, Rublev builds his game around a devastating forehand – among the fastest in the world – and a level of physical and emotional commitment that rarely wavers. An ultra‑offensive baseliner, he dictates the tempo of rallies and applies relentless pressure on his opponents. Under the guidance of Fernando Vicente and, since 2025, Marat Safin, he has sharpened the tactical side of his game, adding nuance to his shot selection and improving his ability to manage difficult phases.

Today, Andrey Rublev remains one of the most respected competitors on tour, a fierce ball‑striker, a tireless fighter and a perennial contender on every surface.
