Just a few days after pulling out of the Barcelona tournament before his scheduled second-round match against Tomas Machac, and after deciding not to compete at the Masters 1000 in Madrid, Carlos Alcaraz has announced on his social media today that he will remain sidelined at least until June.
Roland-Garros 2026: Carlos Alcaraz withdraws
Injured to his wrist, the two-time defending champion has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming edition of Roland-Garros.

‘To be cautious and not participate in Rome or Roland-Garros’
Hampered by a right wrist injury sustained in recent weeks, the Murcia native chose not to take any further risks. A few days ago, during the Laureus World Sports Awards, the world No.1 had already casted doubt over his participation in the season’s second Grand Slam. That uncertainty was fully confirmed on Friday.
“After the results of the tests carried out today, we have decided that the most prudent thing to do is to be cautious and not participate in Rome or Roland Garros as we wait to evaluate the progress so we can decide when to return to the court. This is a difficult time for me, but I am sure we will come out of it stronger,” he wrote on his social media accounts.
Winner of an epic final against Jannik Sinner last June after saving three match points, Alcaraz will miss the Parisian tournament for the first time since 2021.
