After sweeping aside Frances Tiafoe in the semis, “Carlitos” had a date with destiny in his historic final against Casper Ruud. Just like in Miami, luck was on the Murcian’s side as he won the match in four sets (6-4 2-6 7-6(1) 6-3) against the Norwegian, who had already finished runner-up at the Porte d’Auteuil. A first Grand Slam title for Alcaraz, who became the youngest-ever World No.1 the very next day.
