The sixth seed, an Australian Open semi-finalist in January, resumed his darkness-suspended match against the Serb at 5-5 in the third set before eventually running out a 7-5, 6-3, 6-7(5), 7-6(6) winner.

Tsitsipas next plays the winner of another third-round match held over from Friday evening, between 2015 champion Stan Wawrinka and former world No.3 Grigor Dimitrov.

That match has just resumed on Court 1.

Tsitsipas followed Simona Halep onto Court Philippe-Chatrier, after the Romanian crushed Lesia Tsurenko.

Halep, the defending champion and third seed, relinquished just three games in a 55-minute rout of the Ukrainian 30-year-old.

Having been stretched to three sets in her first two matches, Halep will appreciate a shorter hit-out ahead of a fourth-round meeting with either Monica Puig or Iga Swiatek.

Currently on court are top seed Novak Djokovic, No.5 seed Alexander Zverev - locked in a fifth set battle with Dusan Lajovic after winning the first two sets - and ninth seed Fabio Fognini, who leads 18th seed Roberto Bautista Agut.

No.13 seed Borna Coric is currently battling German Jan-Lennard Struff on Court 14.
