Champions vying for history as wheelchair draws announced

The world's best wheelchair tennis players are raring to go to chase silverware at Roland-Garros 2021

The first champions of Roland-Garros 2021 will come from the wheelchair divisions.

Over four days, from Friday June 4 until Monday June 7, the world’s best wheelchair tennis players will battle it out on the terre battue.

The draws have been announced with plenty of intriguing contests on the agenda.

Great Britain’s Alfie Hewett will look to defend his singles title in Paris, but will have to bring his A-game from the very start having been drawn against Australian Open winner Joachim Gerard. The top seed and seven-time champion Shingo Kunieda takes on Gordon Reid.

Over to the women’s event and reigning champion Yui Kamiji has to tackle her doubles partner Jordanne Whiley, meanwhile No.1 seed Diede de Groot opens against Colombia’s Angelica Bernal.

Australian Dylan Alcott headlines the quad events, the two-time defending champion opens against American veteran David Wagner. Second seed Andy Lapthorne opens his title quest facing US Open champion Sam Schroder.
