Like his fellow countryman and childhood club partner Rafael Jodar, Martin Landaluce embodies – behind Carlos Alcaraz – the next wave of Spain’s golden generation. Armed with a modern, attacking game, the Madrid native quickly made a name for himself on the junior circuit before steadily translating his potential to the professional ranks, thanks to his maturity and intensity on court.
Born on January 8, 2006, in Madrid, he picked up the game at a very young age on the courts of the Chamartin Tennis Club, in the north of the Spanish capital. He soon joined the Spanish Tennis Federation’s development system before moving to the Rafa Nadal Academy at the age of 14. A finalist at Wimbledon juniors and US Open champion in 2022, he rose to world No.1 in the junior rankings in February 2023.
Those performances earned him several wild cards on the ATP Tour, where he made his debut in Gijon in October 2022, at just 16 years old. He has since continued to build his game methodically, alternating between ITF tournaments, the Challengers Tour – where he claimed two titles in Olbia (2024) and Orléans (2025) – and further invitations. A winner of his first match at a Masters 1000 event in Miami in 2024, it was also in Florida that he truly broke through in March 2026. Coming through qualifying, he reached the quarter-finals with notable wins over Karen Khachanov and Sebastian Korda. He entered the Top 100 a few weeks later and confirmed his potential by reaching the quarter-finals of the Rome Masters 1000 as a lucky loser.
Having been exposed early to high-level competition – illustrated by his practice sessions with idol Rafael Nadal in Mallorca – Martin Landaluce stands out for his ability to compete physically and mentally with the very best despite his young age. Extremely aggressive on the baseline, the 1.93m right-hander combines strong movement with a heavy forehand that allows him to dictate the tempo. While constantly looking to take control of rallies, he also retains impressive defensive solidity. His clean two-handed backhand and his quality of return further underline a well-rounded and highly promising game.
