Swiatek, last year's Wimbledon junior champion, next takes on titleholder Simona Halep.

Halep, seeded third, dropped just three games earlier on Saturday in defeating Lesia Tsurenko.

Meanwhile, world No.1 Naomi Osaka crashed out to Katerina Siniakova in straight sets, a result ending her 16-match winning streak at Grand Slam events.

Siniakova will next take on Madison Keys - the 14th seed and a semi-finalist in Paris last year - after she she stopped Russian qualifier Anna Blinkova 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-4.

In the men's draw, Jan-Lennard Struff prevailed in an incredible five-setter over Borna Coric.

The No.13 seed served for the match but could not get the job done; the 196cm-tall German went on to win 4-6, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(1), 11-9 to reach the fourth round at a major for the first time.

There he joins countryman Alexander Zverev, after the fifth seed got past Dusan Lajovic 6-4, 6-2, 4-6, 1-6, 6-2.

Gael Monfils advanced in a more straight-forward manner as he brushed aside fellow Frenchman Antoine Hoang 6-3, 6-2, 6-3. It marks the eighth time Monfils has advanced to the second week in Paris.

Also progressing in straight sets was Novak Djokovic. The world No.1 extended his Grand Slam winning streak to 24 with a 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 win over Italian qualifier Salvatore Caruso.

Caruso's countryman Fabio Fognini earlier on Saturday reached the last 16 with a four-set win over 18th seed Roberto Bautista-Agut while Stan Wawrinka, a champion in 2015, got past Grigor Dimitrov in three tiebreaks.

In other matches, Juan Martin del Potro and Karen Khachanov both lead their third-round encounters two sets to love, while last year's finalist Dominic Thiem leads Pablo Cuevas by two sets to one.
