The finals of the Roland-Garros Amateur Series by Peugeot rocked the Marina Barra Clube, in the west of Rio de Janeiro, on Sunday February 16. For four days, the games were filled with a lot of drive, sweat and dedication on the part of the tennis players.

In the 1st class, Antônio Amaro, from Brasília, beat William Lage by 2 sets to 1 and conquered once again the title in the highest category of the tournament. He had also won the Brasilia stage.
Among the women, the highlight is the victory of Brasiliense Ana Vieira over hostess Irene Werneck, from Rio de Janeiro. Ana won by 2 sets to 0 with partials of 6-3, 6-2, in a game in which each point was played bravely.
The tournament in Rio also featured a 16-member bracket made up of media journalists and specialized tennis vehicles. Emblematic figures such as André Rizek, Elia Júnior, Clayton Conservani and Fernando Nardini fought back and made great and disputed matches with most matches reaching the 3rd set. The title went to producer Felipe Mussa who defeated 2 sets to 0 Elia Júnior.

In addition to the chance to compete in a tournament with all the atmosphere and glamor of Roland-Garros, participants had the opportunity to take a tour of the host city offered by Peugeot, sponsor of the event. Who visited the sights of the Marvelous City was Ana Jéssica Souza, from Brasília. Aboard the New Peugeot 2008 Turbo THP SUV, the tennis player visited Grumari Beach, Prainha, Recreio and Barra da Tijuca, where she contemplated nature and got to know one of the most beautiful places in the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
After three stages, the Roland-Garros Amateur Series by Peugeot is now on its last stage in Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais, up North of Brazil. The games will take place between the 2nd and 5th of April at Minas Tennis Club, labeled “Roland-Garros Club” in 2018.
At the end of the season, the champions of each category will participate in a drawing worth a trip to Paris, where the winner will be able to spend a day at Roland-Garros.
