Bonne nuit from Paris!

American No.9 seed Taylor Fritz closed out the day with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Arthur Rinderknech in 2hr 50min on Court Suzanne-Lenglen

Here's our diary from a busy Day 5, headlined by 16-year-old Mirra Andreeva, who said her long-term dream in tennis would be to surpass Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal's Grand Slam tally and aim for 25 major titles.

10:50pm Zverev through in straights

German No.22 seed Alexander Zverev moved into the last 32 with a 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 victory over Slovakian Alex Molcan in a night-session clash on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Through to the third round here for a seventh time in eight appearances, Zverev will face off with American No.12 seed Frances Tiafoe, who dismissed qualifier Aslan Karatsev in four sets.

Former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu has stormed into the Roland-Garros third round for the first time in her career with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over American Emma Navarro in a mere 69 minutes.

7:55pm Gauff sets up Andreeva clash

Last year's finalist and No.6 seed Coco Gauff set up a mouthwatering third-round meeting with 16-year-old Mirra Andreeva with a smooth 6-2, 6-3 victory over Austria's Julia Grabher in 68 minutes.

The third round will be an intriguing showdown between two talented teens - one of which is already established as a top-10 player in both singles and doubles, and another who is up-and-coming and at the start of what promises to be an incredible journey.

6:40pm Jabeur breezes through

Tunisian No.7 seed Ons Jabeur punched her ticket into the third round with a 71-minute 6-2, 6-3 victory over Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin.

6:20pm Altmaier upsets Sinner in marathon

World No.79 Daniel Altmaier picked up the second top-10 win of his career - and second at Roland-Garros - with a heroic 5hr 26min victory over No.8 seed Jannik Sinner.

Altmaier saved two match points in the fourth set to force a decider then claimed a crucial break of serve in the fifth to put himself in the position to serve for the victory. Just like Sinner couldn't close in the fourth, Altmaier got broken as Sinner levelled for 5-5. But Sinner wasn't able to hold serve and Altmaier got a second chance to serve out the match.

Sinner saved four match points - one with a killer passing shot like Altmaier did in the fourth set - but Altmaier converted his fifth opportunity to complete the upset 6-7(0), 7-6(7), 1-6, 7-6(4), 7-5 and reach the third round in Paris for the second time in three appearances.

TGIF

The schedule for Day 6 is out and it features Jessica Pegula, Aryna Sabalenka, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz, all on Court Philippe-Chatrier, with Carlitos headlining the night session in a third-round showdown against Denis Shapovalov.
