Roland-Garros becomes the first of the Grand Slam events to reach this figure on this digital platform.

Launched in September 2013, the Roland Garros account on the famous Chinese social media site, Weibo, has just reached a million followers. In doing so, France’s top tournament becomes the first of the Grand Slam events to reach this highly symbolic figure on this prestigious digital platform.

Since its launch, the Roland Garros account has proved to be a resounding success with the Chinese public. During the 2018 tournament some 360 million articles were viewed via the Hashtag #RG18 ! 

The announcement, in March 2017, that the celebrated actor, Jin Dong, was to become the tournament’s first ambassador in China, was one of the many landmark events since the account’s creation.

The Weibo platform further develops the tournament’s notoriety internationally while it also promotes the practise of clay court tennis in China.
