Channel Nine thus becomes the official and exclusive broadcaster of the Parisian Grand Slam in Australia from 2021.
Channel Nine is the new and exclusive broadcaster of Roland-Garros in Australia
The French Tennis Federation is delighted to have signed a partnership agreement with Channel Nine to broadcast the Roland-Garros tournament.
Channel Nine will promote Roland-Garros by offering extensive coverage of the tournament on its free channels (Channel Nine, 9Go and 9GEM) as well as on its on-demand streaming service, 9Now, and on its OTT platform, Stan.
Already a broadcaster of the Australian Open, Channel Nine, which has also recently signed a broadcasting agreement with Wimbledon, is one of the largest media groups in Australia and boasts a wide variety of services (television, video on demand, press, digital and radio).
“We are delighted to have signed this broadcasting agreement with Channel Nine, one of Australia’s most popular television channels. We would also like to thank Fox and SBS for their dedication in promoting Roland-Garros these past few years. This new agreement will enable us to boost the Roland-Garros brand presence in an important market for the tournament. The announcement is sure to delight Australian tennis fans, who we know are particularly fond of the Parisian Grand Slam and many of their compatriots have tasted success on the famous Roland-Garros clay court, including Ashleigh Barty, who won the tournament in 2019,” explained Bernard Giudicelli, President of the French Tennis Federation.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with the French Tennis Federation and excited to be bringing Roland-Garros to Nine. Our multi-platform strategy of free to air, STAN Sport and 9Now, combined with our print and radio assets means that this great tournament will reach more Australian’s than ever before. Our country has a rich tennis history and the partnership with Roland-Garros, Wimbledon and the Australian Open now makes Nine the home of grand slam tennis.”, explained Brent Williams, Nine Director of Sport
