Ruud to play Tommy Paul

Two-time finalist in Paris Casper Ruud is the last winner of the day and was too solid for Serbia's Hamad Medjedovic 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 on Lenglen. The late show for the Norwegian sets up a Friday meeting with Tommy Paul who cruised past Lorenzo Sonego during Wednesday evening.

Zverev races through

Alexander Zverev makes light work of Czech Tomas Machac during what was a near-perfect night session for the No.2 seed on Chatrier. The former Paris finalist eases into the round of 32 with a 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 victory. Quentin Halys is up next for the German.

That leaves just one match left on court now as Casper Ruud looks to finish the job against Hamad Medjedovic from two sets up on Lenglen.

21:54

Zverev on his way

There are four matches still on court with No.2 seed Alexander Zverev in control on Chatrier ahead 6-4, 6-2 against Tomas Machac. Mirra Andreeva came back from a set down against Spain's Marina Bassols Ribera to go through 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Despite the physical problems he was suffering in the first round, No.15 seed Casper Ruud is looking strong against Hamad Medjedovic as he leads by a set and a break. And Karolina Muchova and Tommy Paul appear to be closing in on victory on courts 6 and 7 respectively.

Fantastic Mr Fonseca

In the most escape-y of great escapes, Brazilian 19-year-old Joao Fonseca becomes just the third teenager this century to win a main draw match at Roland-Garros from two sets down - taking the final set against Dino Prizmic 6-2 in front of pulsating crowds on Court 14.

Fonseca's reward? A shot at 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in the third round.

Fonseca into a fifth

As Alexander Zverev breaks in the first game against Tomas Machac on Chatrier, Joao Fonseca is mounting a comeback against Dino Prizmic on Court 14. He takes the third and fourth sets 6-3, 6-1 to get himself into a decider. The winner plays Novak Djokovic in the third round.

On Lenglen, former finalist Jasmine Paolini lost to Argentina's Solana Sierra 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 and No.8 seed Mirra Andreeva is a set behind to Spain's Marina Bassols Ribera on Court Simonne-Mathieu.

Djokovic marches on

Novak Djokovic has booked a record 21st consecutive Roland-Garros third-round showing with victory over France's Valentin Royer.

The match wasn't without drama, as the young Frenchman took the third set in a tiebreak and saved a total of three match points before Djokovic sealed the deal.

Court 14 Dino-mite

There are some great battles around the sun-soaked grounds as the time ticks past 7pm. No.28 seed Joao Fonseca is in trouble against young in-form Croat Dino Prizmic who leads 6-3, 6-4 on Court 14.

Rafa Jodar is in a scrap with James Duckworth. The young Spaniard is ahead two sets to one and they're on serve in the fourth.

No.26 seed Hailey Baptiste is a break down against unseeded Chinese player Wang Xiyu on Court 6, while Romania's Sorana Cirstea has just got going on Court 9 against Germany's Eva Lys. This is Cirstea's final appearance at Roland-Garros before retiring later this year.

Royer steals third set from Djokovic

It's all happening at RG at the moment. It was looking like a straight-sets win for Novak Djokovic in the Chatrier sunshine but French world No.74 Valetin Royer has other ideas, forces a tiebreak, then saves a match point and finally edges the shootout 9-7 to take it into a fourth. Chatrier erupts, Novak must re-group quickly.

Mensik survives longest match so far

While the Starodubtseva story was unfolding, we've just witnessed an incredible few moments on Court 6 during another deciding tiebreak, this time between No.26 seeded Czech Jakub Mensik and Mariano Navone from Argentina. Mensik began cramping during the shootout but still somehow managed to get over the line on his seventh match point 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6[13-11] before collapsing into the dirt in pain. Navone then had to cross to the Czech's side of the court to shake hands while the 20-year-old was still on the ground. Their battle is the longest match at Roland-Garros 2026 so far, a 4hr 41min marathon played in temperatures touching 33c heat.

18:14

'I'm very proud'

Yuliia Starodubtseva reacts to the biggest win of her career against world No.2 Elena Rybakina moments ago.

“Honestly, it’s hard to describe. I’m super happy. Elena is one of the top players, has had an incredible year,” said the 26-year-old.

“I expected her to come back. You can’t be thinking it’s ever going to be easy, even at 3-0 up (in the decider), I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be easy. That was so!

“It was a very hard third set, a very tough match, but I got it done! I’m very proud I could do this today.”

17:50

Starodubtseva shocks Rybakina

Ukraine's Yuliia Starodubtseva has produced the biggest shock of the tournament so far as she beats world No.2 and this year's Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina in a deciding tiebreak on Lenglen.

It was looking like the world No.55 might've have missed her chance when her 3-0 lead in the third set disappeared, but the Ukrainian held her nerve during the shootout for a 3-6, 6-1 7-6[10-4] victory and a first top 10 win.

She plays No.26 seed Hailey Baptiste or China's Wang Xiyu in the third round.

The clay's the thing

Rafa in a rush

Those on court will be playing through the hottest period of the day right now - it's around 33c at the moment - so young Spaniard Rafa Jodar has the right idea wrapping up his opening set against James Duckworth 6-1 in 28 minutes. The 19-year-old is making his debut at RG and so far has dropped only six games across four sets. He beat Aleks Kovacevic 6-1, 6-0, 6-4 in the first round.

16:48

Starodubtseva levels up against Rybakina

Ukrainian world No.55 Yuliia Starodubtseva has reeled in No.2 seed Elena Rybakina to even up their second-round clash at one set apiece. Rybakina took the first 6-3, but Starodubtseva cranked up the dial on her service games - winning 80% on her first and 83% on her second serves to dominate the set 6-1.

16:16

Rublev through, Ostapenko out

No.11 seed Andrey Rublev survives a physical 3hr-plus contest with Argentina's Camilo Ugo Carabelli in four sets, converting his second match point for a 6-1, 1-6, 6-3, 7-6(5) win when the South American's forehand is judged to have dropped wide when the ball mark was checked by the chair umpire.

We've lost the 29th seed in the women's draw after Jelena Ostapenko goes down 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 to Magda Linette. It sets up the first all-Polish main draw meeting in the Open era here in Paris between Linette and Iga Swiatek, who might be breathing a sigh of relief at the result as she has a 0-6 head-to-head record against Ostapenko.

15:50

Djokovic v Royer under way

Three-time RG champion Novak Djokovic is back on Chatrier for his second round match against French world No.74 Valentin Royer. Djokovic is aiming to reach the third round here for the 21st consecutive year. That's right, a 21st CONSECUTIVE YEAR. The Serb also currently holds a 30-match win streak against Frenchmen. It's their first meeting in the hot sun this afternoon. Follow through the links below...

Svitolina's through

On-form No.7 seed Elina Svitolina moves into the third round with a 6-0, 6-4 win over world No.126 Kaitlin Quevedo after 1h18m on Chatrier.

Svitolina, recent champion in Rome earlier this month, will now face German Tamara Korpatsch, who defeated Wang Xinyu earlier today.

Wednesday night under the lights

A quick reminder that tonight's Chatrier evening session is a German-Czech affair with No.2 seed and former finalist Alexander Zverev playing talented world No.43 Tomas Machac. It's a second meeting between the two men after Zverev won their previous match 6-3, 7-5 on clay at this same venue during the 2024 Olympics. The night session kicks off at 20:15.

Tennis + Museum = Tenniseum!

It's a fantastic place to visit if you're on the grounds here at Roland-Garros.
Throughout the tournament - and beyond, the Tenniseum is hosting a new exhibition entitled “Serving for equality”, which traces the sporting, social and cultural history of women's tennis from the 19th century to the present day. From early champions to great icons, it pays tribute to pioneers such as Suzanne Lenglen and Althea Gibson, who paved the way and transformed the sport.

The exhibition also recounts the creation of a women's tennis tour and struggles for equality, particularly around prize money. A focus on wheelchair tennis also underlines the sport's drive for inclusion. The exhibition also highlights modern-day challenges for women in tennis such as media coverage, motherhood, gender-based and sexual violence and racism.

Featuring previously unseen objects and archives, the exhibition will run until the end of March 2027.

Tirante and Korpatsch beat seeds

A couple more seeds say goodbye as in-form Argentine Thiago Tirante beats No.21 seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in four sets (top serve speed from TT today was 140mph), while on Court 7 Germany's Tamara Korpatsch has beaten China's 32nd seed Wang Xinyu 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. It's the first time either player has reached the third round at a major.

Iga moves into last 32

Four-time champion Iga Swiatek had to work hard at times during some punishing rallies but has cleared her second round hurdle with a 6-2, 6-3 win over young Czech lefty Sara Bejlek on Chatrier. On Friday she will face her nemesis Jelena Ostapenko (she's lost all six meetings against the former RG champion) or fellow Pole Magda Linette.

13:25

De Jong marches on

Dutch lucky loser Jesper de Jong is into the third round in Paris - his best Grand Slam result. The world No.106 lost comfortably to American Michael Zheng in the last round of the qualifying, but has made the most of his second chance when he got into the main draw after Arthur Fils pulled out injured. The 25-year-old beat Stan Wawrinka in the first round and today outclassed young Italian Federico Cina 6-3, 6-1, 6-3. He'll play Khachanov or Trungelliti in the round of 32.

Iga in a battle on Chatrier

Iga Swiatek has taken the first set 6-2 in her second-round match against Czech world No.35 Sara Bejlek. The scoreline doesn't quite reflect the intensity of the fight out there though, with the Pole taking an hour to secure the set. She was broken serving it out at 5-1, and has just survived a 15-minute opening game in the second.

12:52

Bencic through

Belinda Bencic is the first player to move through to the third round of the women's singles with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over the USA's Caty McNally. It's the Swiss player's first RG since becoming a mother to Bella in April of 2024, and as Chris Oddo notes, it may prove to be her best showing yet.

Tuesday rapid round-up…

Day 3 marked the end of first-round matches - it was hot, it was lively and it threw up a few surprises.

Here’s a summary of the action:

Alex Sharp’s first assignment was on Chatrier, where Aryna Sabalenka moved into the second round with little trouble, seeing off Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in straight sets.

Chris Oddo did some extra homework and put together this lovely tribute to Gael Monfils. He then nipped into Court Suzanne-Lenglen to watch an extraordinary see-saw of a match between Australian wildcard Adam Walton and No.6 seed Daniil Medvedev. Walton came through the encounter with a remarkable 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 scoreline. Not done, Chris then moved on to Chatrier to watch Coco Gauff edge past her friend and compatriot Taylor Townsend

➡️  Wednesday's order of play

Dan Imhoff headed over to Court Simonne-Mathieu and witnessed one of those great surprises that are occasionally thrown up - 17-year-old French wildcard Moise Kouame took down former world No.3 Marin Cilic, who was appearing in his 18th Roland-Garros. Dan then had quite the late night as Felix Auger-Aliassime took more than four hours to get past dangerous German Daniel Altmaier on Court Suzanne-Lenglen.

Taking up her regular position overseeing the night match, Victoria Chiesa had a relatively short assignment this time as Jannik Sinner swept past French wildcard Clement Tabur under the lights on Chatrier.

We also celebrated Althea Gibson, 70 years after her title at Roland-Garros, making her the first Black woman to win a Grand Slam.

Always the last to bed, Lee Goodall summed up the day.

11:00

Bonjour from a sunny Day 4 at Roland-Garros

It’s time to crack on with the second round of the singles main draw. No.3 seed and four-time RG champion Iga Swiatek gets things going on Chatrier at 12:00 when she takes on Czech Sara Bejlek. Also featuring on Chatrier on Wednesday are Elena Svitolina, Novak Djokovic, and headlining the night session, Alexander Zverev

➡️  Here’s the order of play for Wednesday

But before that, there’s plenty going on from 11:00 around the rest of the courts. Seeds in action include women’s No.2 seed Elena Rybakina, who meets Ukraine’s Yuliia Starodubtseva on Court Suzenne-Lenglen, and men’s No.11 seed Andrey Rublev, who faces Argentina’s Camilo Ugo Carabelli over on Court Simonne-Mathieu.
