Born on 8 August 2000 – the same day as his idol Roger Federer – Félix Auger-Aliassime made history as the first player born in the 2000s to earn an ATP ranking and later break into the world’s Top 100. But the Canadian’s journey, rooted in his Togolese heritage, extends far beyond these symbolic milestones.
In 2019, at just 18 years old, he became the youngest player to enter the Top 25 since Lleyton Hewitt in 1999. Driven by his aggressive forehand and powerful serve, he reached three ATP finals that season. After losing his first eight finals on tour, “FAA” finally lifted his maiden trophy in 2022 in Rotterdam, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas. That year proved to be a turning point: 60 wins, a 16 matches winning streak, three consecutive titles, a first qualification for the ATP Finals, a Davis Cup triumph with Team Canada, and standout victories over world No.1 Carlos Alcaraz as well as former dominant champions Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal. From 2021 to 2024, he also benefited from the guidance of Toni Nadal.
A multiple Masters 1000 finalist, Auger-Aliassime climbed to a career high ranking of world No.5 in November 2025, the same season he reached the semi-finals at the ATP Finals for the second time. He has also reached the last four at a Grand Slam on two occasions: the 2021 US Open – a first for a Canadian male player in New York – and again at the 2025 US Open. By winning his ninth career title in 2026, he became the most decorated Canadian player of the Open era, surpassing Milos Raonic.
Off the court, Félix Auger-Aliassime nurtures other passions, including playing the piano. He is also known for his humanitarian commitment. Since 2020, he has partnered with BNP Paribas to support children in Togo: for every point he wins on the ATP Tour, 20 dollars are donated to the #FAAPointsForChange programme.
