1 -- When Jelena Ostapenko, who headlines against Victoria Azarenka on Court Simonne-Mathieu, won her first Grand Slam title at Roland-Garros two years ago, it also happened be her very first professional tour-level title. She also became the very first Latvian to win a Grand Slam singles tournament.

11 -- Alexander Zverev opens his account on Court Philippe-Chatrier against John Millman, fresh from winning the Geneva Open after saving two match points against Nicolas Jarry. It was his 11th ATP title, all of which have come in the last three years.

12 -- The number of years since anyone has defended the women’s singles crown at Roland-Garros. The 2018 champion Simona Halep will be out to end this sequence when she begins her quest against Australian Ajla Tomljanovic, ranked No.47 in the world.

14 -- Naomi Osaka is on a 14-match winning streak at the Grand Slams, having won both the US and Australian Opens, as she seeks to become the first woman since Serena Williams in 2015 to win three Grand Slams in a row.

16 -- Selena Janicijevic, the second-youngest player in the women's draw, takes on Poland’s Iga Swiatek, hoping to emulate her friend and fellow 16-year-old Diane Parry, the youngest in the main draw who, after booking her second round place on Monday, told reporters how she had learned her tennis playing alongside her young French compatriot.

18 -- The number of different countries who can claim a winner of the women’s singles crown at Roland-Garros. Others out to make it 19 are headed by Japan’s Osaka and Belarus’s Azarenka.

23 -- Juan Martin del Potro, the 2009 US Open winner, is beginning his bid for the title against Nicolas Jarry on Court Suzanne-Lenglen, bidding to break the record for the most number of attempts taken to win a second Slam. Marat Safin, the 2000 US Open winner, had 14 attempts before he took the 2005 Australian Open, but if the popular Argentine Del Porto wins, it will have taken him 23 Slams to scale his latest peak!

36 -- Gael Monfils and Lucas Pouille, the two top-ranked Frenchmen, set out on the road to ending the frustrating sequence that has seen no home hope win the men’s event since Yannick Noah 36 years ago in 1993. Four more Frenchmen have made a Grand Slam final since then but, alas, none managed to cross the winning line. Monfils, seeded 14th, takes on Japan’s Taro Daniel while Pouille, the No.22 seed, faces Italian qualifier Simone Bolelli.

51 -- The number of weeks that Victoria Azarenka spent as No.1 in the world after ascending to the top spot in January 2012.

77 -- The combined age of 37-year-old Feliciano Lopez and 40-year-old Ivo Karlovic, making their clash on Court 6 one of the most venerable match-ups in Grand Slam annals.

13,320 -- The record-shattering number of aces that the remarkable Karlovic has bombed down during his 19-year career. Only four other men have managed to get past 10,000.
