Sinner show incoming
Talking of Jannik Sinner, the world No.1 has arrived ahead of his 20.15 night match against French wildcard Clement Tabur.
Martin the marathon man
Young Spaniard Martin Landaluce wins the longest match of the tournament so far as he eventually scrambles past Bolivian qualifier Juan Carlos Prado Angelo after 4 hours and 30 minutes in 34c heat on Court 9. It's his first win at Grand Slam level.
The 20-year-old from Madrid led 5-1 in the fifth, missed two match points at 5-3 and finally converted his fifth chance to seal it when his opponent shanked a forehand out of court in the 10th game. The relief after a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, 6-7(3), 6-4 victory was evident as Landaluce hurled his racket into the clay to celebrate.
He goes into the second round to play Kopriva or Moutet, with a potential third round meeting with world No.1 Jannik Sinner.
Alex Blockx withdraws
Walton's frequent flyer miles
RG's Chris Oddo sat in Adam Walton's press conference after his five-set win over Daniil Medvedev earlier today. One of the most surprising elements of his Roland-Garros build-up has been the number of miles he's flown in the hunt for valuable points and a top 100 ranking.
Based in the US, writes Chris, he started his clay season on the red clay of Houston, before jumping on a flight to South Korea for a hard-court Challenger. Next, he flew to Madrid for the clay Masters 1000 event, where he won a round. He then flew back to China for a two more hard-court Challenger tournaments, before jetting back just in time for Roland-Garros.
Coco and Naomi win
Women's defending champion Coco Gauff gets past a tricky opening match against friend Taylor Townsend 6-4, 6-0 on Chatrier. She's through to play Egyptian qualifier Mayar Sherif.
Fellow Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka - the Japanese star has won four majors - is also moving on after a difficult second set against Germany's Laura Siegemund. The 16th seed wins 6-3, 7-6(3) on Lenglen.
Pegula prepping
The mercury is touching 33c at just gone 4.30pm so time for an ice cream for the Blog HQ workers. While meandering back from the RG epicerie, we spot No.5 seed Jess Pegula grooving her serve in the heat in front of a handful of fans on Court 5. The American is preparing to face Aussie Kim Birrell in the fourth match on Simonne-Mathieu today.
Day 4 schedule
On Wednesday we move into the second round of the men's and women's singles. The Day 4 schedule was released earlier this afternoon.
Iga Świątek and Czech Sara Bejlek will open Chatrier at 12 noon, with Elina Svitolina and Novak Djokovic also on the main court during the day session. Alexander Zverev takes on Tomas Machac in the night match at 8.15pm.
Alex De Minaur, Elena Rybakina, Jasmine Paolini and Casper Ruud are the seeds lined up for Court Suzanne-Lenglen.
Scores on the doors
It's about time we swept around the RG courts. Defending champion Coco Gauff is now on court with doubles world No.2 Taylor Townsend and Coco isn't having everything her own way in the heat. TT got an early break but the world No.4 hit back to lead 4-3 on serve.

Good day for the Greeks
Former finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas is into the second round after his opponent on Chatrier, Alexandre Muller, retired after three games of the second set with a right calf injury when he was trailing 6-2, 3-0. Stef will play Griekspoor or Arnaldi in round two.

Earlier 17th seed Iva Jovic clamied the battle of the youngsters on Court 14 when she took out Alex Eala in straights 6-4, 6-2.

After three hours and 22 minutes – and an extraordinary see-sawing scoreline – Australian wildcard Adam Walton has beaten Daniil Medvedev 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4, sending the No.6 seed out in the first round for the second year running.
Kouame comes of age
Moise Kouame beats Cilic
Seventeen-year-old Frenchman Moise Kouame claims the biggest win of his career and his first Grand Slam victory and it comes against a former US Open champion in Marin Cilic 7-6(4), 6-2, 6-1 on a rowdy Court Simone-Mathieu. The win is a milestone moment for the teenager from Paris as it makes him the second youngest French player to win a Grand Slam men’s singles match in the Open era after Thierry Tulasne.

Coco in RG magazine
Talking of Coco, before she arrives on court this afternoon, you can read about the two-time major winner from an exclusive interview with the Roland-Garros Magazine where she chats about Paris, her 2025 victory, and her interests outside tennis.
Coco preparing for TT
If you head right to the end of the Roland-Garrros site (beyond Court 14 and towards the top of the cheese wedge-shaped bit of RG) you can find Coco Gauff warming up with a left-handed local hitting partner on practice Court 16 ahead of her match with another leftie Taylor Townsend. Coco, who beat Aryna Sabalenka in last year's final, is third up on Chatrier today. As I walk back to Blog HQ there's a big crowd settling around the sunken Court 14 ahead of an all-French affair between last year's Shanghai Masters champ Valentin Vacherot who's up against young qualifier Thomas Faurel. Water fountains and mist sprayers are in high demand again today with temperatures at 30c in the early afternoon.
USA women progress, Vekic and Tabilo also through
Eighteen-year-old No.17 seed Iva Jovic, who made such a mark in Australia with her run to the quarterfinal of the AO this year, is through to the second round in Paris with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Alexandra Eala.
Her compatriot Emma Navarro, who reached the fourth round here last year defeated Indonesia's Janice Tjen to book her place in the second round and now faces... Iva Jovic.
Over on Court 6, Donna Vekic, competing in her 14th Roland-Garros is through with a win over French wildcard Alice Tubello.
Chile's Alejandro Tabilo relinquished just eight games in his victory over Kamil Majchrzak, and progresses to the second round for a second straight year.
Sabalenka in control
No.1 seed Aryna Sabalenka has taken the first set against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro on Chatrier, the 2025 runner-up coming out with the big shots when it counted.
High octane stuff on Lenglen 🔥
Having lost the first set 6-2 to Australian wildcard Adam Walton, No.6 seed Daniil Medvedev cranked up the heat on his return of serves to wrestle the second set back 6-1.
But Walton is now 4-0 up in the third ... it's exhausting stuff.
Hunter/McNally get doubles campaign off the mark
The first result of the day comes from the women's doubles pairing of No.12 seeds Australian Storm Hunter and the USA's Caty McNally, who defeated the all-French duo of Clara Burel and Chloé Pacquet over on Court 10.
Moise making waves
Over on Court Simonne-Mathieu, Moise Kouame, the 17-year-old French wildcard coached by Richard Gasquet, has taken the first set off former world No.3 and two-time Roland-Garros quarterfinalist Marin Cilic, who is contesting his 18th campaign here in Paris.

Wildcard Walton off to a speedy start

He then had the privilege of watching Swiss fan-favourite Stan Wawrinka play his last match at Roland-Garros - there’s a lot of love for Stan the Man out there. Chris ended his day in the Lenglen hotseat watching American No.5 seed Ben Shelton take a straight sets victory over Spain’s Daniel Merida.
Ready for the off...
No.1 seed Aryna Sabalenka is all set to get things started on Chatrier - 35 minutes to go... ⏰
Oh, what a night 🎉
Monday’s night session on Chatrier was an emotional five-set affair - a fitting occasion for 39-year-old fan-favourite Gael Monfils to say goodbye to the Parisian courts he has made his home.
The Frenchman so nearly extended his stay for another round, sparking to life at two sets down against compatriot Hugo Gaston, taking eight straight games to claim the third and fourth sets. But it was not to be although that didn’t dampen the spirits of the packed crowd who had come to celebrate Monfils’ impressive record here in Paris.
Welcome to Day 3
We’re well into the action now and first-round matches are scheduled to conclude today. There are still a few big names yet to start their campaign, including women’s No.1 seed Aryna Sabalenka, who gets things started on Chatrier from 12:00 against Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, and then men’s No.1 seed Jannik Sinner, who headlines the night session against French wildcard Clement Tabur.
