Since October 2018, Alex De Minaur has been Australia’s No.1 player and a regular member of the Top 10 for several years. In July 2024, after reaching Wimbledon’s quarterfinals for the first time, he achieved his career-high ranking: World No.6. Although this huge Lleyton Hewitt fan considers grass to be his favourite surface, he has known most of his successes on hard court, where he won his first three titles in 2019 and reached a Masters 1000 final (lost to Jannik Sinner in Toronto in 2023).
Particularly consistent in the most prestigious tournaments, he has reached the quarter-finals of all four Grand Slam. Overall, he has advanced to that stage six times, including four times in a row, between Roland-Garros 2024 and the Australian Open 2025. Two-time ATP Next Gen finalist, he has also qualified for the ATP Finals for the first time in 2024. A reward for relentless work: “It’s my main goal at the beginning of the year. It’s a tournament that shows a player’s consistency: you can prove that it wasn’t about having only one or two good weeks, it’s a great achievement” he told us at the 2025 Rolex Paris Masters. Demon – as he’s commonly called – is one of the fastest players on tour. His movement, agility, endurance and early ball-striking are undoubtedly his greatest strengths.
The green and gold jersey holds a special place in De Minaur’s heart, despite having grown up between Spain and Australia. He also has the number 109 tattooed on his chest, as a reference to his Australian player number. Thanks to his win against Marin Cilic, he played a key role in helping Australia to reach the final step in the 2022 edition of the Davis Cup (lost to Canada 2-0). Under the national colours, he also competed in the doubles event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games alongside Alexei Popyrin.
