The Roland-Garros tournament is joining in the celebrations organised by the City of Paris and showcasing its very first RG Pride Day in acknowledgement of the 10-year anniversary of same-sex marriage in France and the first gay wedding celebrated in Paris on 7 June 2013.

For the occasion, the Roland-Garros grounds are decked out in rainbow colours. In the stadium walkways, spectators have the chance to get their own temporary “Pride Day” tattoos and take a picture at the Pride Day Photo Booth. The LED lighting on the courts glows in rainbow colours, and the Roland-Garros social media pages will also be getting a makeover for the day.

The initiative is aligned with the inclusion and diversity values upheld by the FFT. In addition, on 23 July, the FFT will host, for the second year running, the final stages of the Paris Summer Cup at Roland-Garros. This tournament, organised by the Double Jeu Tennis Paris (DJTP), the only LGBTQI+ association affiliated with the FFT, is an international tournament held under the auspices of the Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance (GLTA), an international LGBTQI+ tennis federation. During the 2022 edition, 138 players took part.

FFT President Gilles Moretton: “We are proud to have organised this celebration, which is perfectly aligned with the diversity and inclusion values that the FFT upholds. We are fully committed to continuing to organize these types of activities.”
