The Qualifying rounds start on Monday!

Roland-Garros 2019 is here! The tournament will kick off on Monday (20th May) with the Qualifying rounds, which will run until Friday 24th Mayin the Porte d’Auteuil stadium. The men will start proceedings at 10am.

There will be 128 male contenders in the starting blocks, all competing to clinch one of sixteen places in the main draw. Twelve Frenchmen are hoping to play their way into one of these hotly-contested spots: Elliot Benchetrit, Geoffrey Blancaneaux, Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc, Corentin Denolly, Hugo Gaston, Manuel Guinard, Mattéo Martineau, Alexandre Muller and Johan-Sébastien Tatlot, who have all been given a wildcard, as well as Mathias Bourgue, Constant Lestienne and Enzo Couacaud.

The draw for the men’s Qualifying rounds will take place on Sunday 19th May at 4pm in Roland-Garros stadium.

The women on Tuesday

The women’s Qualifying rounds will start the following day, Tuesday 21st May, at 10am. Over four days, until Friday 24th May, 96 women will contest the twelve places available in the women’s singles main draw. Eight of these hopefuls are French: Tessah Andrianjafitrimo, Loudmilla Bencheikh, Myrtille Georges, Elsa Jacquemot, Manon Léonard, Alizé Lim and Margot Yerolymos, who have all been given a wildcard, and Océane Dodin. The draw for the women’s Qualifying rounds will take place on Monday 20th May at 4pm.

During this year’s Qualifying tournament, spectators will have the honour of being the first visitors to explore the Fonds de Princes’ new layout! This bustling new site to the west of the stadium boasts seven courts, including 5 competition courts (Courts 10, 11, 12, 13 and Court 14, which was delivered last year) and two practice courts (Courts 15 and 16). Its wide pathways allow for easier access to the courts, and the spectators are seated closer to the action.

Suzanne-Lenglen court open to spectators

Plenty of surprises are in store during the Qualifying tournament. Suzanne-Lenglen court will be open to spectators every day from 11 am to 5pm, to give them the unique opportunity to watch the star players’ final practice sessions before they begin their Roland-Garros campaign.
