"Mary, you see, is much more than a great tennis champion. Her credentials speak loud and clear," said Mary Pierce’s former coach Nick Bollettieri, who introduced her on Saturday night into the Tennis Hall of Fame.

"She's an angel. She has an incredibly warm and tender heart, and she has one mission in life: 'How can I help you achieve your goals?' She will always be part of my life...and helping people achieve their goals as you achieve your goals.", he added.

"This day has finally arrived. I've been waiting for this for six months since it was announced in January," Mary Pierce said during an emotional speech in Newport, Rhode Island.

"Tennis has taught me so much in life. It's a great teacher. Anything you want to achieve doesn't come easy.

"The great dreams that I had in achieve them, I always felt I gave 100 percent of myself. Dreams are like fuel, and my dream was to one day win Roland Garros.

"It was my ultimate dream in tennis and it came true. Winning the doubles with Martina Hingis was like the cherry on top..."
