Considered from her teenage years as one of the brightest hopes in American tennis, Amanda Anisimova has steadily risen to become one of the most dangerous competitors on the WTA Tour. Born on August 31, 2001, in New Jersey and inspired by her older sister Maria, she picked up a racquet at a very young age and quickly emerged as an exceptional junior talent. She reached the world No.2 ranking in the category and won the 2017 US Open girls’ title, a year after contesting the Roland‑Garros junior final.

Her rise continued in 2019 with a first WTA title in Bogota and, above all, a memorable last four run at Roland‑Garros, after she defeated Simona Halep (the defending champion) to become the first player born in the 2000s to reach a Grand Slam semi-final. From that moment on, her explosive game – a striking blend of power, precision and effortless timing – drew widespread attention.

After a more delicate period marked by a much‑needed break from the tour in 2023, Anisimova returned recharged, more stable, and as ambitious as ever. Following a first WTA 1000 final in Toronto in 2024, it was in 2025 that she definitively shifted into a new dimension. That season, she captured her first two WTA 1000 titles, in Doha and Beijing, and reached two major finals, at Wimbledon (falling to Iga Swiatek) and at the US Open (defeated by Aryna Sabalenka). This outstanding campaign propelled her into the world’s Top 5, even reaching No.3 (the best ranking of her career) at the start of 2026.

Her tennis is built around early ball‑taking, a punishing forehand, a backhand of remarkable purity and a rare ability to dictate rallies at high tempo. Powerful yet blessed with exceptional anticipation, she possesses all the hallmarks of modern offensive tennis. Her controlled aggression, combined with a mindset hardened by adversity, makes her one of the most dangerous competitors on the circuit whenever confidence is on her side.

Now, Amanda Anisimova moves forward with the stature of a genuine contender for the sport’s biggest honours. Her resilience, her firepower and her growing maturity place her, more than ever, among the players to watch in a discipline that never stops evolving.
