The new standard‑bearer of British tennis, Jack Draper is emerging as one of the main challengers to the new "Big 2", following a path reminiscent of his illustrious compatriot Andy Murray, who once took on the "Big 3".

Born in 2001 and turning professional in 2018 – like Jannik Sinner – just after reaching the Wimbledon boys’ singles final, Draper experienced a slightly slower rise due to recurring physical issues. Even so, he continued to progress step by step, securing his first Future titles in 2019, then his first Challenger trophies in 2022, before capturing his maiden ATP titles in 2024 (Stuttgart and Vienna). That same year, the left‑hander from Sutton broke through at the highest level by reaching the semi‑finals of the US Open, where he fell to… Jannik Sinner, the eventual champion.

Draper carried that momentum into the start of 2025, earning his first Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells – where he notably defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the semi‑finals – before reaching the final in Madrid, a run that propelled him to World No.4. A promising Roland‑Garros followed, where he reached the second week for the first time, but a subsequent arm injury stalled what had been a spectacular rise.

The son of a former chief executive of the British Tennis Federation and a former high‑level player, Draper carries the expectations of an entire nation hoping to see him follow in Andy Murray’s footsteps. Tall, powerful and armed with a heavy forehand, he possesses all the tools required for modern tennis, and on all surfaces. Alongside the promising new wave led by players such as Jakub Mensik, Arthur Fils, Learner Tien and Joao Fonseca – who may well become his main rivals in the years to come – he stands out as one of the natural leaders of a generation dreaming of challenging the Alcaraz‑Sinner duo at the summit.
