1995

Highlights of the tournament

At the age of 27, Thomas Muster becomes the first Austrian to win a Grand Slam title. Unbeaten on clay since the beginning of the year, Muster extends his win streak on the slowest surface to 35 matchs in 1995 after his success against Michael Chang in the final.

Germany’s Steffi Graf comes into the tournament below par physically but still takes the title for the fourth time in Paris, overcoming No.1 seed Arantxa Sanchez in the final and taking back the reins of women’s tennis. A new attendance record is set for the fortnight with 361,727 spectators coming to the Porte d’Auteuil.
