Highlights of the tournament

After the Open era came into being without any hiccups, the world of tennis finds itself torn in two once again. A number of professional players, under contract with billionaire Lamar Hunt, do not take part in Roland Garros, which gives clay-court specialist Jan Kodes a golden opportunity. The Czech defeats Zeljko Franulovic in a final which lasts only an hour and 18 minutes – the shortest in the tournament’s history.

Australia’s Margaret Court takes the women’s singles for the fourth time as she sets about winning her first Grand Slam.

Regarding the stadium itself, the big news is the opening of a new 250 m2 restaurant below stand C of Centre Court.
