Italian tennis ticked off another triumph on a sunny Thursday afternoon in Paris, as Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori became the first team to successfully defend a Roland-Garros mixed doubles title since 2019.

The Italian duo captured their fourth Grand Slam mixed title on Court Philippe-Chatrier, coming through a championship tiebreak to defeat Gabriela Dabrowski and Evan King, 4-6, 6-3, 10-4.

“What can I say,” Errani said. “I’m still living this dream that is never ending.”

Thirty-nine-year-old Errani and 31-year-old Vavassori became the first all-Italian team in history to win the mixed title in Paris in 2025, and this year they remained undefeated in Grand Slam finals at 4-0.

"You are for sure my best friend," Vavassori said to Errani during the trophy ceremony. "You improve me as a player and as a person, and I'm really grateful to have this journey with you – it's something that I do not take for granted."

For the second year in a row, King was defeated by the Italians at the final stage in Paris. The Chicago native, who played the mixed final with Taylor Townsend last year, teamed up with Ottawa-born Dabrowski for the first time this season.

"You guys are amazing for the sport, and inspirations," King said to the Italian duo on court. "I wish we would beat you but you guys are just really good."

Things started well for Dabrowski and King, as they raced to a 4-0 advantage in the opening set with heady, all-court play in tricky conditions.

They hung on to take the opener, with two-time Grand Slam mixed and women's doubles champion Dabrowski yanking a drive volley winner to close the set in 38 minutes, but Errani and Vavassori soon took over.

The defending champions hit back quickly in the second set, taking it 6-3, in 30 minutes as the Italians jumped out to a 5-1 lead and held on from there. In the match tiebreak they took a 3-0 lead and never looked back, converting their first championship point to finish the win in one hour and 19 minutes.

Errani and Vavassori are the first No.1 seeds to win the Roland-Garros mixed doubles title since Liezel Huber and Bob Bryan in 2009.
