    In just his second main draw appearance at Roland-Garros, a young Gaël Monfils found himself facing a daunting challenge in the form of Indian Wells runner-up and No.8 seed James Blake. Riding a wave of confidence after recording the first two five-set victories of his career against Andy Murray and Dick Norman earlier in this 2006 edition, the French showman appeared armed with all the tools needed to upset a Top 10 player on the Grand Slam stage and reach the fourth round. Roared on by a packed and passionate Court No.1, the Paris native will once again become the hero of an extraordinary marathon.
