Victoria Azarenka

D. SAFINA/V. Azarenka

1‑6, 6‑4, 6‑2

An interview with:

VICTORIAAZARENKA

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. You were a little bit up and down there, but she looked very strong, like she's the best player in the world. Is that your impression?

VICTORIA AZARENKA: Um, well, I think I just didn't take mychances, which I had. I had a lot ofchances, but she definitely stepped it up and played some good points on thekey moments, which I have to give her all the credit.

I think I just missed alot of my chances today.

Q. When you came back and leveled it in the second set there, maybe likeyou were going to turn it around and win it, you played a fairly loose game toget broken again. What was going throughyour mind? What was the process there?

VICTORIA AZARENKA: I don't know. It was just a couple of good shots from her, and it was a little bittough with the wind. But it was no excuses. It's wind for everybody and sun foreverybody.

So I just ‑‑ Ijust have to learn how to play better in these moments. It's all experience, which I have to learnfrom, and hopefully I'll do better next time.

Q. What do you think was the turning point in the match?

VICTORIA AZARENKA: Well, I think it's the 4‑All game in thesecond set. It was pretty big that Ididn't really do anything with my game, which I should have. I think that that was it.

Q. In the beginning of the second set, your serve went down a littlebit. What happened there? Was it the wind that bothered you?

VICTORIA AZARENKA: No, I don't know. It was just something with my emotion. I didn't feel it. I didn't know what was going on. I have no idea.

I'll have to work onit.

Q. You didn't seem too impressed walking on the center courts, because yourfirst set was almost perfect. Were younervous going out there?

VICTORIA AZARENKA: No. Imean, it's not my first time playing on the big courts, so I was prettycalm. I knew where I was going to play, and I was okay.

Q. You were watching the names going on the steps, all the names of theplayers when you walked out on the court?

VICTORIA AZARENKA: Yeah, a little bit. I mean, there's so many. It's nice to think.

Q. What did you think?

VICTORIA AZARENKA: I think it's great. It's nice, like every tournament havedifferent ones. Australian Open theyhave all the winners when you walk down.

Here you have all ofthe pictures and signatures. It's reallycool, I think.
