A retro-chic anniversary
For its 30th anniversary, La Griffe Roland-Garros was keen to partner up with Lafont to create two pairs of acetate collector sunglasses. The high-end eyewear brand drew inspiration from the history of the boutique to apply the elegance and Parisian chic so typical of Roland-Garros to two exclusive pairs of sunglasses.
“Suzanne” and “Marcel” honoured
Wearable on the courts or in the stands, while strolling through the alleyways of the stadium or while walking the path from the court to the changing rooms, the two retro-chic models of the La Griffe Roland-Garros x Lafont collection were designed using two materials specifically developed for this collaborative project. The women’s sunglasses, “Suzanne”, are dark tortoiseshell with a saltire-shaped lining, in homage to one of the stadium’s iconic architectural features. The male sunglasses, “Marcel”, are also dark tortoiseshell, with a “Musketeers’ stripe” pattern, as a tribute to the legends of French tennis who notably gave their name to the trophy handed to the winner of Roland-Garros every year, the famous “Coupe des Mousquetaires” (“Musketeers’ Cup”).
“Suzanne” and “Marcel” will bestow a refined style on the wearers, and mark them out as capable of distinguishing quality. These collector’s pieces are actually part of a special run of 150 numbered and certified (“French origin guaranteed”) sunglasses. The Roland-Garros logo is engraved on each pair by laser, and they are sold in a limited-edition case and with limited-edition packaging.
